Mapletree Business City, Singapore, 2010

Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd commissioned this artwork located in a reflective pond at the Mapletree Business City Complex. The installation incorporates brightly coloured glass leaves and the reflective qualities of stainless steel.

Referencing traditional Asian folklore which believes the maple tree is symbolic of independence, imagination and originality, the artwork brings bright colour into the built environment, signifying new opportunities, growth and prosperity found within and under the branches of Mapletree Investments. The shape of the leaves is based on a Japanese maple leaf, a tree widely cultivated in South East Asia for more than 300 years. Referencing notions of renewal and growth, the artwork represents the saying that from little things big things will grow…
