As an interesting adjunct, Art Glass Solutions accepted a totally non-glass project. We were asked to develop a creative solution for bedhead accents in the luxury Spa Guest Rooms at Sentosa’s W Hotel.

For this textile based artwork we worked closely with Javanese artisans to design and build a unique spinning machine to turn, twist and weave the yarn. Bright coloured threads of differing sizes and textures were used to create unique installations referencing local bamboo flora and the Javanese weaving traditions of Indonesia.

Carefully integrated into the Hotel’s interior, the artworks provide a brilliance which alludes to place, natural environments, local culture and traditional crafts
